Hair Loss RemediesThere are many reasons for hair loss. It’s quite natural in one way. Just like the skin, the hair also regenerates itself from time to time. It is said that losing around 100 hairs a day is quite normal. The reason for hair loss may be stress, hormonal problems, illness, chemical treatments, pollution and so on. But, if the condition persists then it will be wise if you consult a doctor.

There are many remedies for hair loss from drugs to herbal treatments. But, using drugs is not as advisable as they often have side effects. For instance, drugs like Minoxidil is used everyday to prevent hair loss but this may lead to heart problems. So, it is considered that herbal or natural remedies are the most effective for hair loss with no side effects. The following are some of the methods you can try for hair loss:

  • Massage: 10-12 minutes massage in the scalp can stimulate the blood flow to hair follicles, which helps in hair growth and also prevent hair loss.
  • Aromatherapy:  Aroma therapists used a mixture of six drops each of bay essential oils and lavender in a base of four ounces of either soybean or almond to massage into the scalp. This also stimulates the blood flow.
  • Saw Palmetto Extract: This helps in lowering the level of DHT, a hormone that prevents the hair growth in male. Women on hormone therapy or oral contraceptives should not take this.
  • Nettle Root Extract: Nettles are loaded with Vitamins such as vitamin A and C, lipids and many vital minerals, which are valuable to the hair.
  • Sage and Rosemary: These two herbs have been using since ancient time. Rosemary, sage, burdock, nettle and peach leaves are boiled together in water and the strain liquid is used to wash the hair daily. This also prevents hair loss.
  • Jojoba Oil: Mexicans and Native Americans traditionally used Jojoba oil as a treatment against dandruff and to promote hair growth.
  • Aloe Vera: It is widely used to prevent hair loss. It heals the scalp and balances the pH level. A mixture of coconut milk, wheat germ oil and Aloe Vera gel is used as a shampoo for healthy and shiny hair.
  • Henna: Indian used henna as a natural conditioner that helps in maintaining a healthy hair. It protects against hair breakage by repairing and sealing the hair cuticles.
  • Exercise: Even though exercise doesn’t help to hair growth directly, it improves the blood flow and delivery of oxygen to the cells, which assist the health of hair follicles.
