FUE Hair Transplant
Hair baldness is a psychological concern for both men and women as it affects the looks of a person to a great extent. Hair baldness may be caused due to many reasons. One of the major reasons leading to hair baldness is alopecia areata. Heredity also plays a major role in hair baldness. The genetic trait responsible for the hair loss is passed on to the child from the mother. Hair baldness usually starts from the forehead, which gradually reaches the crown area in men. However with the advance in medicine and technology of hair transplantation and hair restoration, it is not a difficult problem anymore.
There are two types of hair transplant available namely FUE or strip hair transplant. It is important that one should understand all the information regarding both the types of transplants and choose the best according to his wish.
The process of hair transplantation includes grafting a small area of hair bearing skin on a bald area. Before the surgery, the person should completely refrain himself from alcohol, medicines etc to avoid unnecessary bleeding from the wounds. The scalp of the person is shampooed and anti bacterial lotion is applied on the day of the surgery.
One of the most common and supposedly the best among hair restoration treatments is the FUE method. In this method, the hair from the back of the scalp is taken out and planted on the affected area on the scalp.
There are procedures involved in follicular hair transplants. Initially, the follicular hair to be removed from the donor tissue is examined under a microscope by the surgeon to ensure rich yield. The rest of the process is as follows.
Donor strip: Donor strip is the hair strip, which is taken from the permanent zone in the back of the scalp and transplanted on the affected areas. The donor tissue is taken out from the back of the scalp in one piece carefully to make sure that it does not suffer any kind of damage.
Donor Strip Extraction: The donor strip is removed from the back of the scalp and examined under a microscope thoroughly to ensure that it doesn’t have any kind of unwanted damage. It is harvested and protected from damage and then transplanted onto the affected areas.
Follicular units: Follicular unit is a bundle of hair growing together, which is surrounded by oil glands, a small muscle and a band of collagen. One to four terminal hairs form the hair bundle that is the follicular unit.
