Frontal Hair Loss
Hair loss is a very common disorder found in both men and women but frontal hair loss is the most difficult type of hair loss for a man to deal with. Frontal hair loss is not only difficult to treat but also can be easily noticeable. It affects the looks of a person badly as it is located just above the forehead and can be seen by everyone. Most of the frontal hair losses are hereditary. The genes responsible for frontal hair loss are passed on from the parents to the child. In most cases, it is believed that the child has a higher chance of inheriting the genes responsible for frontal hair loss from his or her mother.
Frontal hair loss is also known as male pattern baldness and is a genetic condition. It is caused due to the increase in level of a male sex hormone known as DHT. DHT is produced when the testosterone hormone reacts with certain enzymes known as 5-alpha-reductase. This DHT accumulates in the hair follicles and attacks the hair follicles making it to shrink, which in turn leads to shortening of hair life span. It is a slow process and in fact, most people realizes it only after losing more than 50 percent of his frontal hair. Frontal hair loss is a gradual process and it is seen mostly among old age people.
There are certain kinds of treatments available to cure frontal hair loss. Some of the treatments are as follows:
- Propecia: Propecia is proven helpful to majority of people who experiences hair loss but there is no accurate evidence of this drug to work on people who have receding hair line. However, it prevents hair loss in mid scalp as well as in frontal scalp. Propecia is a DHT blocker. This drug prevents the production DHT by preventing the chemical reaction between 5-alpha reductase enzymes and tetosterone hormone.
- Rogaine: Rogaine is another treatment option for treating frontal hair loss. It helps in the growth and development of new hair in most part of the head including the frontal region. Rogaine is taken twice daily for a period of four months.
Frontal hair transplant: It is the best and the most expensive way to cure frontal hair loss. In this method, the hair from the back of the scalp is taken and planted on the frontal bald area of the scalp.
